Our days unfold around the practice of Yoga. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to take part in many different Yoga classes, including the physical practice of Hatha Yoga, meditation, breathing practices “pranayama” and relaxation “Yoga nidra” as well having time to learn about the philosophical traditions of Yoga. You will discover, through all of these practices, how Yoga can be in inspiration and an example for good living in today’s busy world.
The word hatha means wilful or forceful. Hatha Yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open up the many channels of the body—especially the main channel, the spine—so that energy can flow freely through the body.
Hatha is also translated as ha meaning “sun” and the meaning “moon”. This refers to the balance of masculine aspects— the hot, active sun—with feminine aspects—the cool, receptive moon—within all of us. Hatha Yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites. In our physical bodies, we develop a balance of strength and flexibility and we learn to balance the opposing forces of effort and surrender within each pose.
Hatha Yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It invites us to bring our attention to our breath, which in turn helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.
108 house is located within the first World Surf Reserve, famous for its excellent year-round water activities. The surf conditions in Ericeira are great almost all year round and there are many iconic spots in the vicinity for fantastic surfing, whether you are a beginner or an intermediate/advanced rider. Our local partner, Board Culture Surf Center, is a premium surf centre located next door to our house and in front of the spot of Matadouro.
Their experienced team is happy to advise and help with any questions. They are fully dedicated to providing top quality lessons for small groups and private courses, so our guests improve quickly while enjoying safe and fun lessons.

Breakfasts and dinners are mainly vegetarian but open to any specific diary requests. The body and mind is empowered through a simple and healthy diet and this helps you to enjoy the sunny Portuguese days to the fullest.
Hiking trips for any level can be arranged in the hills around the magical natural park of Sintra, along the stunning coastline walk of Cabo da Roca, or just inland of Ericeira.
Bike tours and rentals are available on a daily base. With the Ericeira Surf Reserve to the north, the Sintra Cascais Natural Park to the south and the Lizandro Valley to the east, we can offer a wide diversity of rides and interesting sceneries from dirt roads to technical single-tracks, from coastal cliff tops to old rural villages.
There are also plenty cultural highlights to enjoy – witness the majesty of the castles and palaces in Sintra Cascais Natural Park, sip coffee and enjoy a delicious world-famous Pastel de Belem in the stunning capital of Lisbon or discover the hidden gem of the Mafra Palace with its library and garden.
Yoga Thai Massage: in this unique healing system of Thai Yoga Massage, also called Nuad Boran, the practitioner guides the client through a series of Yoga postures, while palming and thumbing along the body’s energy (‘Sen’) lines and pressure points. Together, these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.
Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a mat on the floor; both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility.
